Question: In 11.4, the service is listed as “Ethernet WAN services (MPLS or Equivalent)”. Please clarify whether this means an MPLS-VPN solution providing a Layer 3 routed WAN or a Switched Ethernet WAN (E-LAN or similar). In this year’s RFPs, I’ve seen variation in language in that section, specifically between:
- “multipoint-to-multipoint Layer 3 service (MPLS or equivalent)”
- “multipoint-to-multipoint Layer 2 service (E-LAN or equivalent) connecting all of the following locations in a single broadcast domain”
Response: CMHCs current solution for this segment of their network is a layer 3 routed WAN (MPLS-VPN). Equivalent solutions will be considered.
